Featuring a very plain website, purplecv.co.uk clearly did not spend a lot of time trying to attract customers. Judging from the purplecv reviews we found online, their customer support is also not dedicated enough on making purchasing resumes from this service a pleasant experience. Still, this is not an indicator that we are looking at a bad writing service. As a matter of fact, the company has an updated social media profile, and offers a variety of packages we find to be interesting.
A good CV writing service has it all, starting from a variety of services to great prices. In order to determine if this is a good or bad choice for your papers, we decided to evaluate not only purplecv.co.uk reviews online, but also write our own, unbiased review.
The first and most important thing about any resume writing service on the market is the quality offered. At the end, it all comes down to how good the writers are and how well they deliver the papers.
We ordered ‘the next step CV’ package that, according to the website, is aimed towards people with work experience of 3 to 10 years. Our package came at a reduced quote and cost us £85.00. We found this price to be a great bargain, since the package included a CV, cover letter and a LinkedIn profile.
However, once we got our paper from the service, we were very disappointed. What was supposed to be a CV was a simple template filled with all the information we provided, without a good order. The cover letter was of below average quality since it was not proofread or formatted, while the LinkedIn profile was not at all informative.
List of Services and Prices
The list of services at the company is very short, and consists of only four services and four packages. All packages are the same, with the only difference of ordering each of the CV’s the company delivers. Therefore, you can either choose to get your ‘early career CV’, ‘the next step cv’, ‘advanced career CV’, or their ‘specialist CV’. As for packages, all these CV’s come in a combo with a LinkedIn profile and a cover letter.
Prices here look somewhat acceptable, but they are certainly not a great quote to pay considering the poor quality we received. The company obviously uses templates for both CVs and cover letters, which means that these prices are over the roof for the service they provide.
The cheapest cv you can get is of course, the early career cv. This option applies for people with exirience of 0 to 3 years, and comes at a rate of £25. The package for this cv costs £70.
The most expensive option is the specialist CV, which comes at a rate of £175. The package for this CV costs £195.
Customer Service and Delivery
There are plenty of ways to get in touch with the company, including their social media profiles and the live chat option on the website. However, the customer service is one many customers have complained about, mostly because of their unresponsive and unprofessional behavior. From our experience, the customer service takes a lot of time to answer to queries, and they lack some training in the sense that they could not answer the simple questions we asked.
At the moment of writing of this review, there isn’t any purplecv.co.uk coupon or purplecv discount code you can use to get a reduced quote. No review indicates there ever was one, but if there is, you can follow the social media platforms and check this out. We believe that the only discounts offered here are those on the packages, even though they do not really seem to be discounts since the packages are highly priced compared to the CV’s rates the company offers.
Despite being an avid writer myself, I thought it would be refreshing to see how another professional would layout and word my C.V. Sometimes it can be helpful to have a fresh set of eyes, especially when those eyes are supposedly from an individual who specialises in writing such material, tailored to your industry.
Firstly, the C.V. took longer than promised, however I would not have minded had it been of a high quality. It was not. It was poorly written and worded, with poor grammar. There was no liasion between writer and client. The writer clearly had no knowledge of my industry, previous experiences or qualifications. There were an array of mistakes throughout and the C.V. looked generic and boring. I have wasted my money and had to re-write everything. The writer did not bother to read my original C.V. properly or even proof-read their own. Finally, the new document and the cover letter provided looks both unfinished and unprofessional. I would definitely not recommend. A child could have done better.
The writers get paid £20 per order no matter what the package, and they are expected to do amendments for a year for that money. In the end, to make it worth while, writers will resort to basic templates and short cuts, otherwise they work an 8 hour day for very little reward; it can take 8 hours to do 2 advanced CV packages; including research etc if the writer is conscientious. If you throw in the fact that writers also have to cover the cost of calls to clients on top of their own costs (wifi, electricity, software), you can see why clients get awful CV’s. The sales team lie to clients about writer expertise just to make a sale and leave writers to spend long hours researching roles they have no idea about – all this can work out to a daily rate of less than £4 per hour. So, though you’re paying £95 for a service the person doing all the work and shouldering the risks gets nothing; Can you expect to get great CV’s under these conditions?
An absolute disgrace. Perhaps the worst service I have ever received, my CV was strewn with grammatical and spelling errors. The person I corresponded on (Gael) was arrogant and insisted on making up things that I didn’t do. I had to rewrite my CV from scratch since their attempt was so poor. A complete fraud, at least I now know what a CV shouldn’t look like!
CVs are not done in time.
Worst draft ever.
Jobs description and roles are unrelated.
This was a complete waste of my hard earned money. My CV was unrecognizable, I was endorsed with skills I don’t possess and given work experiences I never had! My career was given a new direction I have never asked for and would have never considered. I strongly suspect a standard CV template of a different job type was used to write my CV and the writer hasn’t gone into much effort to tweak it to suit my experiences. All in all my new CV was completely unusable and needed rewriting from scratch- serves me right for being lazy and not doing it myself in the first place.
I will never hire these company again based on the bad experience I had working with them and agree with that purpleCV review. After checking out a list of resume writers on bbb website, I came across this company and choose them to write my CV. Well, I really regret redeeming their discount code which to me is a way to lure unsuspecting online clients. Even after sending my complaints and contacting them, nothing was done. To my surprise, I received the worst reply when I tried to follow up with them.
The experience I had working with purpleCV reviews after redeeming a coupon they sent to me makes me write this review. I gave clear instructions to their writers and thought they would adhere to them. For the first submission, I decided to send them a change request and instead of working on it, they send me an invoice asking for payment to have the amendment done. This company doesn’t deserve a good rating on bbb website.
This is the most expensive and the least professional writing service! You won’t get anything out of it! The discount code doesn’t exist; you can’t either use a coupon. I feel like it’s a total scam, and that all the purplecv reviews should show it!
Never, ever, order from purple cv, not if you want a good resume. I didn’t like mine and they didn’t even want to refund me! I now see all of these complaints, which I’m sorry I didn’t notice before.
They have bad customer service and are too expensive for the quality they provide. I could have written a better cover letter myself, not to mention the horrendous job they did with my LinkedIn profile.
I have many complaints about purplecv.co.uk, the biggest one being their prices. I got a coupon on my e-mail, but these people charged me the entire price for the resume. To make things worse, the resume was terrible. Then, the customer service did not even respond when I asked for a refund, not even for that discount I was supposed to get with the discount code!
Purple cv is the most horrible service I’ve ever used, and I should have known better when I read all those negative purplecv reviews like this one. This is a scam service that takes all your money saying they will help you get a job, but they do nothing. Their writer just put my information in what seemed to be a template, and everything was a mess (they didn’t even go to the right category).
They are great at making promises, but what you will read there is so far from the truth, I still cannot believe it. I paid a small fortune to get a cover letter and CV (I didn’t really need the LinkedIn profile option, but apparently, you have to purchase the entire package). When I did this, I got a template CV with the information I got, and they were even mixed since the writer didn’t even check everything was in order!
I cannot say this is the worst company I’ve used, but for those prices, you can definitely get better service. The cover letters are without a mistake, but they are not really specific, it looks like they use the same all the time. I actually asked my friend to request a cover letter, and guess what – he got exactly what I did, but with his experience and details!
Purplecv.co.uk seemed like a good idea at the beginning, but not so much now. I got a very expensive resume for here. I could not afford their package, so I wrote the cover letter myself. Even so, the CV I got here was of terrible quality, and I actually paid over $100 to get it. I also waited for 7 days, even though the website says 5 days only.
I do not have a lot of experience to brag about, so I needed someone to make me as experienced as possible with the qualifications I already have. This company asked me to provide all the information about my studies and qualifications, and I did. Imagine my surprise when I got half-a-page CV that did not even include everything I sent out for a price that emptied my wallet completely!
I ordered a CV here, and it did not get me a single interview, even though I sent it out to dozens of employers. And I actually have the experience to show, and am overqualified for few of the jobs I applied to. Once I noticed this, I tried out other services. As it turns out, the problem was in the CV I got from this service, cuz I got many interview invitations with the new application.
